MA-LFRLEorganized by the faculty of Letters, Translation and Communication during academic year 2017-2018
French, together with English is the only international language spoken on all the world's continents and is used by some 264 million people. There are currently 82 million young people and adults learning French. The main aim of this MA is to provide Franc language training to both native and non-native speakers in the cultural context of Belgium and to promote further research in the teaching of French as a foreign language.
Brussels, as an international capital and for the most part French-speaking, is a test bed for a whole range of different approaches to language phenomena. Becoming utterly proficient in French is a challenge met up to by this MA. It offers students the opportunity to take their learning up to an intermediate or advanced level, dependent on their previous knowledge. The cosmopolitan character of the city promotes international exchanges and makes the reception of non-French speakers particularly easy.
The concept of a year of studies gives way to a system of accumulation of credits based on the student's individual programme. The cycle programme is offered in units of 60 credits. The units of 60 credits are proposed as an "ideal" course of study for students enrolled in this programme.
