MA-LLANGorganized by the faculty of Letters, Translation and Communication during academic year 2017-2018
The course aims to develop excellent communication skills in foreign languages by placing them in their scientific and cultural context. The Master in Modern Languages and Letters provides graduates with the ability to carry out a huge range of tasks independently in a multilingual professional environment (trilingual or quadrilingual). They also acquire the necessary expertise to allow them to contribute to the scientific development of this field and, lastly, they will be able to take a scientific approach to teaching the languages and culture of the regions which they have studied.
Students of this Master's course at the ULB can choose from a wide range of languages (English, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Russian). In addition, they can take up a third language (German, Greek, Polish, Czech, Slovene, Portuguese or Turkish).
The literature courses offer the opportunity to get to learn about cultures not in immediate focus (Austria, U.S. and Canada and ex-colonies). As a multicultural city, Brussels offers an ideal context for learning languages and cultures.
The concept of a year of studies gives way to a system of accumulation of credits based on the student's individual programme. The cycle programme is offered in units of 60 credits. The units of 60 credits are proposed as an "ideal" course of study for students enrolled in this programme.
