MA-LSLAVorganized by the faculty of Letters, Translation and Communication during academic year 2017-2018
The MA is of great interest both to students who have completed the Bachelor of the same name and to beginners wishing to learn Russian.
The course aims to develop excellent communication and mediation skills in foreign languages by placing them in their scientific and cultural context.
The Master in Slavic Languages and Literatures provides participants with the ability to carry out a wide range of tasks independently in a multilingual professional environment (trilingual or quadrilingual).
They also acquire the necessary expertise to allow them to contribute to the scientific development of this field and, lastly, they will be able to take a scientific approach to teaching the languages and culture of the regions which they have studied.
The ULB is the only university in the French-speaking administrative region of Belgium offering a Master in Slavic Languages and Letters. While gaining in maturity and intellectual independence, students will also acquire thorough knowledge of the literature and culture of several Slavonic countries and the ability to use their languages in practical situations. With a dynamic, multi-ethnic student population, teachers who are native speakers, foreign teaching staff, seminar courses run by internationally renowned academics, a scientific centre for Czech and an international Chair in Russian there are a whole host of reasons to study this Master's course at the ULB.
The concept of a year of studies gives way to a system of accumulation of credits based on the student's individual programme. The cycle programme is offered in units of 60 credits. The units of 60 credits are proposed as an "ideal" course of study for students enrolled in this programme.
