Programme objectives

The Master's course in ethics lets participants:

  • Acquire an understanding of the fundamental concepts of ethics

  • Learn to apply this understanding in practice through analysis of case studies and issues of current interest

  • Develop a multi-disciplinary approach by following courses from a number of different faculties and institutes at the ULB - Law, Arts and Humanities, Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences, Social and Political Sciences, Economics and Business, Psychology and Education, Environmental Science and Management, etc.

  • Take advantage of state-of-the-art training which is constantly being reviewed and adapted through the participation of Belgian and international specialists in applied ethics.

Benefits of the ULB training

This course provides a particularly rich and stimulating pedagogical environment. It is based on teaching provided by specialists from different faculties and institutes of the ULB, and by Belgian and international guest teachers who are invited as part of the Chair in Ethics. Staff members are able to help students with preparing seminars and writing their dissertation.

Showing initiative and commitment to personal development through active participation in seminars is rewarded withECTS (which may replace those awarded for courses).

Progression per curriculum unit

The concept of a year of studies gives way to a system of accumulation of credits based on the student's individual programme. The cycle programme is offered in units of 60 credits. The units of 60 credits are proposed as an "ideal" course of study for students enrolled in this programme.
