How to obtain an user account ("NetID")

This section describes which University affiliated individuals, by category, are entitled to a user account in order to access the University resources.

2.1 Students

All students enrolled in any course within the academic year are entitled to a "NetID" and therefore, a university email address in the form: "...@ulb.ac.be".

2.1.1 Prerequisites:

The administrative data of students are created and recorded in the databases once the student has finalised his or her "online" enrolment. Following the confirmation of the data by the affected institution, the student is able to activate the user account "online".

2.2 The university staff

The university staff members are: professors, teacher-researchers, researchers and administrative, technical or management staff. If you are part of a partner-enterprise of the University, and generally work within the University, or a structure under the tutelage of the University (FNRS, FRIA,...) you are also entitled to a user account in accordance to your status.

2.2.1 Prerequisites:

Staff members are registered by the "Département des Ressources Humaines" - "DRH" (Department of Human Resources).
Once the user data has been activated by the "DRH", the user is able to activate his account "online".

2.3 Generic accounts

Generic accounts are accounts without association to a specific person. These accounts are linked to a function (such as: Dean, a specific office,...), a structural unit (such as: IT Centre, Computing Centre,...) or a project, conference,...etc. The claimant of this account is therefore responsible for it.

2.3.1 Prerequisites:

Generic account are registered by the "Computing Centre" (Centre de Calcul) - "CdC" via our "online" form, to be filled in and signed by the responsible of the service in question.

Once the data is confirmed and registered by the Computing Centre, the responsible of the account is able to activate it "online".


2.4 Visitors and external collaborators

Visitors and external collaborators are only entitled to a university email address if they are registered with the university administration. In order to receive an external collaborator status, you may request your head of service or promoter to register you with the "Department of Human Resources" ("Département des Ressources Humaines" - "DRH")

2.4.1 Prerequisites:

If, and only if, a visitor or external collaborator is registered by the "Département des Ressources Humaines" (Department of Human Resources) - "DRH, they may activate their account online, once the user data has been activated by the DRH.
