Master in Multilingual Communication

Programme objectives

The MA degree in multilingual communication offers MA-level training enabling students to acquire and develop knowledge, skills and know-how, which can be successfully implemented in a multilingual and intercultural working environment where communication plays a key role. The aim of the course is to enable students to master the concepts (institutions, culture, society) and practices relevant to international communication (discourse, argumentation, negotiation).

Structure of curriculum and disciplines taught

All students have English courses at an advanced level (15 ECTS - advanced), courses in communication (20 ECTS), specialized courses in a second language (among French for non-native speakers, Dutch, German, Spanish, Italian, or Russian : 15 ECTS) as well as initation courses in a third language (among German, Arabic, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese or russian : 10 ECTS).

Students must choose on Major (30 ECTS) : 20 ETCS

  • Major in Human Resources : this program aims at developing skills that can be used human resources management, and in a multilingual environment ;

  • Major in International Relations : this program offers a solid background in international institutions and current issues in international relations ;

  • Major in Multiculturalism : this program focuses on questions of identity and intercultural dialogue ; it deals with the study of cultures, religions, languages, gender, public space.

Beside courses specialized in foreign languages, communication, and subjects related to international working environments, the program also has a research component : preparatory research paper (5 ECTS), and a final research paper (25 ECTS). An internship (10 ECTS), either at a company or any other type of corporation (cultural, administrative, social, etc.) offers students an opportunity to combine on-the-field experience and applied research, and to get prepared for their future careers.

Progression per curriculum unit

The concept of a year of studies gives way to a system of accumulation of credits based on the student's individual programme. The cycle programme is offered in units of 60 credits. The units of 60 credits are proposed as an "ideal" course of study for students enrolled in this programme.
